Sixteen-year-old Svani, daughter of a Viking, has the disturbing ability to predict death. She cannot shake the feeling of alienation, even in her own village until she falls in love with Bryn, a philosophical warrior, who wants to marry her. But when Svani is killed by monstrous frost giants, her spirit is taken to Valhalla where she learns she is a Valkyrie (a guide for souls). When Bryn is also killed, Svani disobeys Odin to rescue Bryn’s soul from Hel. She discovers the cruel fate that Odin has planned for her, fights frost giants and challenges death itself, all so that she may choose her own destiny and be with the man she loves.
I've been an ardent daydreamer all my life, and my stories come to me as if from the ether. I see them screening behind my eyes like a film, and the challenge is to turn that visual content into readable literature. Procrastination plays a big part of the challenge as well.
I write fantasy, fiction and a smidgen of science fiction. My stories feature young, brave heroines who always save themselves.
I am currently unpublished and looking for representation from an agent. I'm an active member of a small writing and critique group in Moscow, Idaho. I am a massage therapist by day, a birth doula by night, and the rest of the time I spend with my husband and two lively sons.
I have a deep fascination with my Scandinavian heritage and a love of nature; these two things have inspired me to write VALKYRIE’S CRY, a historical fiction/fantasy novel based on Norse mythology.
